Follow-up messages for real outreach situations

Eight adaptable starting points for quiet leads, delayed decisions and warm conversations.

Use these as starting points. Replace the details, remove anything you would not naturally say and keep the message shorter than your first draft.

After a quiet first message

Hi [Name], following up in case my earlier note got buried. I thought [specific outcome] could be relevant to what you are working on. Happy to share the short version here.

After sharing work or a portfolio

Hi [Name], did you get a chance to look at the examples I sent? I would be glad to point you to the one that is closest to [their goal].

After a positive conversation

Hi [Name], I enjoyed our conversation about [topic]. Is this still something you want to move forward with, or would a later date be better?

When they asked you to return later

Hi [Name], you asked me to reconnect around [time/event]. How did [event or project] go? If the timing is better now, I would be glad to continue our conversation about [topic].

After sending a proposal

Hi [Name], checking whether you had any questions about the proposal. I can clarify the scope or adjust the next step if something has changed on your side.

When the timing is unclear

Hi [Name], I do not want to crowd your inbox. Should I check back at a better time, or close the loop for now?

A short social message

Hi [Name], quick follow-up on my earlier message. Still useful to explore this?

A respectful final message

Hi [Name], I will close the loop after this note. If [outcome] becomes a priority later, you can reach me here and I will be glad to pick it up.
